FANTASY FARE: Aho's contributions to quick-starting 'Canes surprisingly low
The Carolina Hurricanes are off to a solid start as a team, but they’re doing so without getting much of a contribution from the one guy on the team you’d expect to be leading the charge — Sebastian Aho. The rising young superstar, who signed that monster deal in the off-season after being offer-sheeted by the Canadiens, has managed just three points in his first nine games — none on the power-play. It hasn’t helped either that his LW, Nino Niederreiter, has yet to score a goal on 20 shots.

Fantasy Fare: Why Mika Zibanejad is worth hanging on to ... or trying to acquire
After opening his season with back-to-back four-point games, is Mika Zibanejad a sell-high candidate? Or is he someone you hang on to? ‘Sell-high’ suggests a player won’t continue to produce at his current pace and, no, the Rangers centreman — who was on a 328-point pace heading into Saturday’s matinee against the visiting Oilers — won’t come even close. Still, Zibanejad could easily reach 90 points this season and finish top-10 in scoring. Add up these factors: He’s a sixth overall pick (of the Senators back in 2011) so the skillset, along with the size and speed, are there. He’s only 26 and presumably still getting better. Free-agent signing Artemi Panarin is arguably the most skilled winger he’s ever had and the two of them, along with RW Pavel Buchnevich, have already shown some eye-popping chemistry. And, perhaps most notably: Last season, when the Rangers were in disarray, Zibanejad thrived in spite of it, producing a career-best 30 goals and 74 points. This year, the team is more settled and Jacob Trouba is huge add on the blue line. OK, the defensive competition in the first two games (Ottawa and Winnipeg) wasn’t great, but he shouldn’t fall too far out of the upper tier of forwards.

FANTASY FARE: McDavid + Draisaitl ready ... when needed

FANTASY FARE: Braves still can't find closure
Nervous about closer Luke Jackson’s high-wire act in ninth innings, the Braves went out and grabbed three quality relievers at the deadline, headed by all-star Shane Greene and his 22 saves from Detroit. That dropped Jackson (17-for-24 in save opps) down to No. 4 on the bullpen depth chart.

FANTASY FARE: 'Tis the season for ugly pitching outings
Yikes, there have been some truly gruesome pitching lines of late, which is perhaps not so much of shock when you combine a record-setting home-run rate with arms beginning to wear down in July/August and bullpens being wrung out.

FANTASY FARE: Some intriguing new faces to ponder post-deadline for AL- and NL-only owners
It was a busy trade deadline day on Wednesday, so we’re going to focus on the players who changed leagues and are now available to the highest bidder with what’s left of our remaining free-agent funds. Then we’ll take a quick look at the fallout of a few of the top names traded to teams within their own league.
