Fantasy Fare: NHL trade deadline fallout

We’ve had a couple of games now, following last Monday’s trade deadline, to see what kind of fantasy impact, if any, there has been on those players who were moved. We’ve already seen game-to-game change as coaches try different looks to see where the new guy(s) fit in, so none of these combinations are locks to last. Still, here is a quick rundown of some of the more significant players involved:

Fantasy Fare: The teardown is on in Ottawa

The NHL trade deadline is but a couple of days away, enhancing many a fantasy hope and putting a dent in others. As usual, a few GMs got business out of the way a little early.

Fantasy Fare: Pastrnak's loss is Krejci's gain

Terrible loss for fantasy owners of David Pastrnak, the Bruins sniper whose left hand is now in a cast after slipping and falling while coming home from a team function on Sunday night. He required surgery on his left thumb and it’s going to take two, maybe three, weeks before the cast is removed and doctors can more accurately predict how long he’ll be out.

Fantasy Fare: Top-line shuffling reaching epidemic proportions

Not sure if it’s just something in the air or, with the trade deadline nearing and the games becoming more crucial, a knee-jerk reaction by NHL head coaches, but teams, at an alarming rate, have been tearing apart their top lines.

Fantasy Fare: Studs and duds from the season's first half

Wow, is it mid-season already? Well, that means it’s time for our annual halftime fantasy studs and duds. As usual, these are guys who have over- or under-achieved according to their pre-season rankings. And players who have missed significant time because of injury and rookies are not in contention. We know there are likely a handful of names that deserve to be listed below but aren’t, but these are the ones that, for whatever reason, jumped out from the first three months.

Fantasy Fare: Wheeler's lost scoring touch not hurting his fantasy value

If Blake Wheeler owners are, understandably, grousing about the Jets captain’s lost scoring touch this season, they’re not doing so very loudly.
