AGAR: The concerns of independent landlords have been forgotten

There is one group left out of recovery efforts in Ontario; a group receiving neither help nor sympathy. They are bleeding money and few people care. They are the landlords who own one or two residential rental units. They are often not wealthy people. They are folks who count on rent payments to cover the mortgage on the property and to perhaps earn a few dollars to contribute to their own income. In March Ontario Premier Ford said he doesn’t want Ontario residents to worry about how they’re going to make rent, announcing the suspension of all evictions until further notice. On Aug. 18, activists and protesters gathered outside a Toronto courthouse to physically block the city’s rental enforcement units from conducting evictions.
