Nitish Kumar and Nikhil Dutta aren’t household names in Canadian sport. In fact few if any outside of cricket have heard of these young players who are considered the future of a game that’s played in relative obscurity here. Canada’s the only Commonwealth country that hasn’t embraced the sport and that’s understandable because of the long and brutal winters that limits action to less than six months. But internationally the sport ranks second only behind soccer in terms of popularity and television appeal and names like India’s Virat Kohli, South Africa’s AB de Villiers and Australia’s Steven Smith are adored and followed by millions of fans.
