SEX FILES: Sun, sand and sex: a remedy for a broken heart
To say 2023 was a roller coaster is an understatement. In May, I lost my father and shortly thereafter, the relationship that I thought was “the one” ended suddenly and brutally. A broken heart paired with the unrelenting grey of autumn has left me feeling like I’ve lost my mojo.

SEX FILES: Quiet quitting relationships often a disservice
My relationship with my ex ended months before we actually broke up. In the time leading up to our split, he gradually became more distant emotionally; often making casual digs at the things and past times I enjoyed. Whenever I’d ask him if something had changed between us, he’d reassure me that, “everything was fine” and I “just needed to relax.” Little did I know, my ex had “quiet quit” our relationship a long time ago.

Once upon a time, I dated a man who inspired me to be the best version of myself. To make the relationship advance, I modeled what I perceived to be his good habits. I learned to meditate, I started eating less meat to better align with his vegan diet, I tried breathwork (hated it), explored my spirituality, learned to read Tarot cards (loved it), covered myself in body oil after the shower to make my skin as satin-like as possible, went to therapy and took classes on how to be softer and more open in relationships.

Last night, I spent three hours transfixed by the new Netflix documentary, Escaping Twin Flames. The series, which is currently No. 2 in Canada, follows Jeff and Shaleia Ayan, the couple behind Twin Flames Universe, an online community and coaching business designed to help people find their “twin flame” (one true love).
