FATAH: Kabul 2020 is a reminder of Karbala 680CE
The dull daily drumbeat of deaths because of the pandemic was briefly interrupted on Tuesday by news of a massacre of babies and expectant mothers at a maternity hospital in Kabul. The followers of Imam Hussain and his father Ali have faced horrific discrimination, slaughters and ethnic cleansing by those best described as ‘Sunni Muslims’ while their victims are the ‘Shias’ or the ‘Party of Ali.’ After legitimizing the Taliban and exonerating it of the crimes against humanity it has committed over decades, Pompeo was marketing them as equal partners, a suggestion totally rejected by Afghan president Ghani who knows better than to be pompous. While the rest of world bestows great respect on Gandhi, they’ll be surprised to learn that many Muslims portrayed him as an ’Islamophobe,’ especially Pakistani Muslims. Before this dormant virus of hate erupts in Canada as well, we need to stand up to the bullies and take them head on instead of whimpering in the face of intimidation.

FATAH: Mosque loudspeaker saga continues
Last week when I wrote about a single mosque in Toronto using four loudspeakers to declare “Allah is the Greatest” and that there is “No God, but Allah,” I thought it was the case of one mosque, a few zealots and their formerly communist councillor investing in her Muslim vote bank.
