FATAH: Kabul 2020 is a reminder of Karbala 680CE

The dull daily drumbeat of deaths because of the pandemic was briefly interrupted on Tuesday by news of a massacre of babies and expectant mothers at a maternity hospital in Kabul. The followers of Imam Hussain and his father Ali have faced horrific discrimination, slaughters and ethnic cleansing by those best described as ‘Sunni Muslims’ while their victims are the ‘Shias’ or the ‘Party of Ali.’ After legitimizing the Taliban and exonerating it of the crimes against humanity it has committed over decades, Pompeo was marketing them as equal partners, a suggestion totally rejected by Afghan president Ghani who knows better than to be pompous. While the rest of world bestows great respect on Gandhi, they’ll be surprised to learn that many Muslims portrayed him as an ’Islamophobe,’ especially Pakistani Muslims. Before this dormant virus of hate erupts in Canada as well, we need to stand up to the bullies and take them head on instead of whimpering in the face of intimidation.
