SECURE THE DATA Scammers are spoofing government and police phone numbers to make victims believe they are dealing with legitimate authorities. Why can’t the CRTC make system security a condition for granting phone companies their operating licences? With today’s technology, keeping phone number data secure isn’t that big an ask. If altering your caller ID resulted in you not receiving a bill, the phone companies would solve this issue in less than a day. The CRTC must make phone data security a priority.
