Victory Cruise Lines, a privately owned company, docks its Victory I vessel at the Port of Sydney on Monday, marking an early opening to the port’s cruise season. The vessel arrived Sunday night at the port’s main dock — earlier than anticipated due to weather conditions.
The 286-foot-long (87-metre) Victory I, registered in Nassau, Bahamas, contains five guest decks, and accommodates 190 passengers and 80 crew members (CruiseMapper.com listed 216 passengers on board).

The vessel was first built in 2001 in Jacksonville, Fla., under a different name but refurbished last year, along with sister ship Victory II.
The privately owned boutique operator specializes in small-ship voyages and sought to re-enter the April season with a renewed focus on the Great Lakes and Canadian Maritime regions.
The vessel is scheduled to leave the Port of Sydney at 6 p.m., en route to its next destination, Quebec City.
The port’s next visiting cruise line, Holland America’s Zuiderdam, is scheduled to arrive May 19.
