GIVING QUEBEC WHAT THEY WANT It’s very obvious as an election nears that Trudeau is starting to cut yet another ‘sweetheart’ deal with Quebec in regard to becoming a nation. This has political gain written all over it, for Trudeau, and nothing more. And Trudeau knows this, so he will do what it takes to keep and make Quebec happy, and in the end securing votes. But should not the people of Quebec and/or Canada decide this and not Trudeau? Trudeau forgets who he works for and often acts alone and in his best interest. The entire exercise is not, and never was, what is best for Canada or Quebec. It is what is best for Trudeau. And Trudeau will twist and manufacture this nation request to look like something else and avoid involvement. Trudeau will give the false impression, as always, slither to the sidelines, and make all this look like it was driven and created by someone else. Trudeau in his quest for votes, and by throwing his full support behind creating a nation within Canada, sets the tone/bar and possible goals for other provinces. Suppose for a moment Quebec becoming a nation was of absolutely no political or vote gain for Trudeau in any way. Would he endorse it then? He would be against it, even if the province wanted it. And this all makes full circle and comes back to popularity and votes — all that Trudeau is interested in or cares about. Wexit just got a boost. Rolly Klaepatz Fairview, Alta. (The Trudeau Liberals have learned nothing since the last election to understand the real frustration in Western Canada. The problem is, they don’t care because they get enough support in the East to stay in office)
