The reemergence of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck as Hollywood’s next possible power couple didn’t just start in the past few weeks. According to TMZ, Ben and Jen were back in touch in February with the outlet citing a source that said, “the tone of the emails wasn’t just friendly … but more loving and longing.”

The former couple was recently spotted hanging out in Los Angeles, just weeks after J.Lo called off her engagement to Alex Rodriguez. The pair enjoyed a high-profile engagement that lasted for several years in the early 2000s, and following their split in 2004, both went on to other relationships, but the pair has remained friendly over the years.

A source tells TMZ that Affleck reached out to Lopez after seeing photos of her shooting her upcoming comedy Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic.

The letters allegedly included a line about him being able to “own her heart” with his pen.

According to an earlier report, the friendly exes enjoyed a weekend getaway to Montana and were spotted at the Big Sky Resort, close to Yellowstone National Park, where Lopez was seen riding in the passenger seat of Affleck’s vehicle.

“They have a strong connection. It’s all been quick and intense, but Jennifer is happy,” a source told People magazine.

But while many Bennifer shippers are thrilled at the possibility of a sequel, Lopez’s former fiance Alex Rodriguez is apparently “shocked” the Hustlers star has moved on so quickly.

“He truly thought they would be able to make it work and reconnect,” a source told E! “He has been reaching out to J.Lo trying to meet with her and she has been very short with him.”

E!’s source went on to add that the On the Floor hitmaker isn’t planning on getting back together with the retired baseball star.

“She’s not interested in rekindling anything with A-Rod and is done.”

Lopez parents 13-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck shares three kids — daughters Violet, 15, and Seraphina, 12, and son Samuel, 9 — with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, whom he divorced in 2018.

Affleck was among those singing J.Lo’s praises when InStyle profiled the actress last month.

“She remains, to this day, the hardest-working person I’ve come across in this business,” he said. “She has great talent, but she has also worked very hard for her success, and I’m so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves.”

This came after Affleck hailed her as “the real thing” in an interview with the New York Times last year.

“I keep in touch periodically with her and have a lot of respect for her. How awesome is it that she had her biggest hit movie at 50? That’s f—ing baller.”
