The pop star posted a lengthy message on Instagram, which has since been deleted, in which she ripped the TV journalist for interviewing her after her split with Justin Timberlake.
Spears, 40, revealed that after her “big breakup” with Timberlake, she “never spoke to anyone.”
“Do we dare forget the Diane Sawyer interview in my apartment almost 20 years ago?” she wrote, via People. “What was with the ‘You’re in the wrong’ approach?? Geeze… and making me cry???”
Spears, who was 21 at the time of the interview, continued, dredging up the fact that Sawyer asked the singer if she had a shopping problem. “Seriously though… I lived in my apartment for a year and never spoke to anyone… my manager put that woman in my home and made me talk to her on national television and she asked if I had a shopping problem!!! when did I have a shopping problem?”

The …Baby One More Time hitmaker went on to add that she was “in shock” after her split from Timberlake, adding that she “never spoke to anyone for a very long time … pretty lame of my dad and three men to show up at my door when I could hardly speak… two days later they put Diane Sawyer in my living room… they forced me to talk!”

Spears, who called herself “a baby” at the time she did the interview, said she now knows how to shut down invasive questions about her personal life.
“(Sawyer referred to me as) ‘a woman or a girl’ … I would like to say now, ‘Ma’am I’m a catholic slut!!!” Spears wrote. “I should spend a thousand dollars if I want every day of my life and she can kiss my white ass.”

Earlier this year, after the release of Framing Britney Spears, a documentary that delved into the singer’s public downfall and the court-appointed conservatorship over her career, Sawyer was criticized for the interview in which she questioned Spears for doing “something that caused (Timberlake) so much pain, so much suffering” after their relationship ended in 2002.
