Cirella was receiving treatment for a “curable” but “rare” form of lymphoma, he said.
“I just have been so sad and so angry,” Stern said. “He didn’t take care of himself.”
He added that Cirella “loved” him, calling the frequent collaborator a “trustworthy, dear friend who made me laugh every time I was with him.”
Stern revealed that Cirella, whom he had been friends with for more than 40 years, was the “reason” he and Beth Ostrosky met after he suggested the pair go to a party — where Stern first met his now-wife.
The radio host honoured his friend on Instagram, writing, “It just seems impossible that he is gone. Bye for now, Ralph.”

Cirella was initially hired as Stern’s personal assistant before he was promoted to wardrobe consultant and then set designer, and often appeared on Howard’s show.
Stern recalled speaking to spoke to Cirella the night before he died.
“There was a lot of good times on the show with Ralph,” Stern said. “I’m taking it very hard.”
John Stamos also posted a heartfelt tribute to his “dear friend” Cirella on social media, recalling the “old days” of the early ‘90s when he met the makeup artist on the set of Stern’s Channel 9 show.
“I can vividly recall how he transformed Howard into a perfect replica of Larry King, showcasing his exceptional talent and creativity,” Stamos wrote.
“From the day forward, we were lifelong friends, I just wished he lived longer,” the Full House star continued.
“He was, without a doubt, a one-of-a-kind soul. Ralph wasn’t just a friend; he was family.”
