Saget was found dead in a hotel room just hours after he performed a stand-up set as part of his I Don’t Do Negative tour. Authorities said there was no evidence of foul play or drug use, but his cause of death has not yet been determined.
During a stop on the Today show this week, Bure said the longtime friends were supposed to get together, but got into an argument over text.
“We ended up not having dinner,” she said, adding that Saget apologized shortly afterwards.
“In Bob fashion, the next day he wrote me, like, what would be pages long of a text. And he was apologizing, saying he was cranky and he was just so sorry,” she said.
Saget went on to compare himself to his mother Dolly in his lengthy apology, she added.
“He said, ‘Oh, now I feel even worse. I was so wrong. You’re, like, my favourite person on the Earth and I acted like Dolly. I was getting ready to take a late flight, and I was annoyed.’ … He said at the end, ‘I love you more for the trouble you’re giving me, if that’s even possible.'”

Bure said she wrote back, telling the comedian that she couldn’t stay mad at him.
“Roll my eyes at you? Yes. But never mad,” she recalled. “And I love that (you’re being like) Dolly. That made me laugh out loud. I loved your mom.”
Bure said that during their 35-year friendship, Saget always had an open ear and was ready to listen to whatever problems she was going through.
“He was so emotionally available all the time. And he was really the first person in my life as a man that I saw cry and have those emotions right at the forefront of his conversations,” she said. “I felt so safe with him.
“If you were hurting, he would hurt with you. You would see the tears well up in his eyes,” she continued. “Bob is a remarkable person and I’ve never had a friendship like the one I’ve had with him. And that’s why it makes it so hard.”

Since his death on Jan. 9, Bure has repeatedly paid tribute to Saget on social media. In one post, she shared a clip of the friends embracing, with the caption, “35 years wasn’t long enough,” while in another she appeared in a sweatshirt emblazoned with the slogan, “Love like Jesus, hug like Bob Saget.”
