The Amazon founder and former Extra anchor were legally wed in the United States after signing a multi-million-dollar prenuptial agreement, the New York Post reported.

The couple did not apply for a marriage licence in the Floating City, which is required under Italian law, an official told the Times of London.

“Often a marriage in a foreign country is not valid in the USA, or creates other issues, so yes, it is likely they are already married,” one attorney told the Post.

To marry in Venice, U.S. citizens would have to sign an affidavit by a U.S. official accredited in Italy, it would need to be notarized, then another signed declaration is required.

It is believed the couple has not done any of the paperwork.

An Italian source told the Post they legally wed before Friday’s Venetian ceremony.

Details of the wedding have been kept under wraps, though with events spread across the city already overwhelmed with tourists, so it’s hard to imagine the massive logistical undertaking Venice is experiencing.

It was previously reported that dozens of private jets landed at Venice’s airport while yachts pulled into the city’s waterways, all carrying celebrities, athletes, influencers, business leaders and other VIPS, including Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump, Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom, Bill Gates and what appeared to be the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan.

While it may be a sign of the couple’s love and friendships, it’s also a testament to their extraordinary wealth — something many in the city are protesting as they argue that tourism is taking precedence over its residents’ needs.

Authorities have dismissed the outcry and touted the economic boost and visibility that comes with the wedding as about a dozen Venetian organizations unfurled banners protesting purported tax breaks for billionaires.
