Mulroney, 40, a one-time “influencer” and close confidante of Markle, watched her reputation plummet after a brouhaha about race with a Black “influencer” last summer.
The race row reportedly triggered a split from royal pal Markle. Not so, says Mulroney.
“I’m going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me every day,” Mulroney wrote on her Instagram story, three weeks after deleting a recent posting showing one of her twin sons at Markle’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
“Tabloid culture is atrocious. It creates lies and hurtful storyline. Stop feeding into it. Done.”
Mulroney had been slammed for her “white privilege” and bullying by black influencer Sasha Exeter. In the wake of that, more stories emerged about the wealthy Toronto woman’s behaviour.

She lost her CTV gig along with her contributor position on ABC’s Good Morning America.
Mulroney and Markle had been friends for many years starting when the latter lived in Toronto filming the TV show Suits. Mulroney’s three children played roles in the royal wedding.
Her fall from grace came when Exeter went public with her complaints about Mulroney’s “very problematic behaviour and antics.”
“Listen, I am by no means calling Jess a racist but what I will say is this, she is very well aware of her wealth, her perceived power and privilege because of the colour of her skin,” Exeter said.
“And that, my friends, gave her the momentary confidence to come for my livelihood in writing.”
