The pop star enraged fans of the Montreal Canadiens during a stop at the Bell Centre this week as his Justice Tour made its way through the city. Midway through the show, the Ontario-born Grammy winner trolled the screaming crowd when he asked, “How’s that playoff spot looking for you guys this year?”
In a video posted to Twitter, Bieber paused during the show and asked the crowd, “I’ve had a great night with you guys tonight. But how about the Leafs though, huh? Auston Mathews is really doing some work here in Montreal.” The cheers quickly turned to jeers as he added, “It’s all good. Maybe next year.”
The Canadiens, who made it to the Stanley Cup Final last season, were recently eliminated from the playoffs after posting a league-worst 18-38-11 record.

Bieber tried to launch a “Go Leafs Go” chant to little avail as the crowd responded with “Go Habs Go.”
“My love for the Maple Leafs has always been a big part of who I am,” Bieber said.
Last season, Bieber regularly documented his love for the team on social media going so far as to declare the team was headed to the Stanley Cup Final. “This is the year,” he boasted.
But after cheering on the Leafs virtually all season long, regularly posting encouraging messages on his Instagram page, he was quiet during the team’s first round matchup against the Habs, which Toronto lost after blowing a 3-1 series lead.
“The Leafs lost because Justin Bieber hasn’t posted a random old Leafs logo on Instagram in a while,” one person theorized.
