Robert De Niro apologizes to Canadians for Trump

TORONTO — Hours after a profane attack on Donald Trump during a live awards show, actor Robert De Niro has apologized to Canadians for the U.S. president’s comments about Justin Trudeau.

The actor, in Toronto for the groundbreaking of Nobu restaurant and hotel on Mercer St. downtown, says Trump’s conduct following the G7 summit in Quebec was “idiotic” and “a disgrace.”

De Niro apologized to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and others who attended the Group of Seven summit of leaders in Canada. Trump called Trudeau “dishonest” and “weak” following the summit on Saturday and abruptly withdrew his support for a communique the participating countries had drafted hours before.

Trump advisers also ripped Trudeau, branding him a back-stabber.
