Dickie Arbiter, a British journalist and Queen Elizabeth’s former press spokesperson, believe Harry and Meghan’s actions since moving to America have been absolutely hypocritical.
“They left this country because they wanted privacy,” Arbiter told the U.K. Sun. “They wanted away from the publicity. And since they left this country, the U.K., they’ve done nothing but seek publicity.”
He added: “Quite frankly, to put it simply they need to put up or shut up.”
Arbiter does have a point. Despite stepping down as senior royals last year, and asking for privacy, Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey was the complete opposite of their request and could not have put the couple under a brighter spotlight. To be fair, though, that’s really the most public they’ve gone over the last year. And it was exposure on their terms, no one else’s.

Leading up to that mind-blowing interview, they’ve kept a pretty low profile since moving stateside, only to make the odd, unpublicized, philanthropic appearance.
Arbiter, however, likely won’t back down. This wasn’t the first time he’s blasted Harry and Meghan’s very public, post-royals life. When the couple’s podcasting deal with Spotify, he was quick to criticize.
“I find it extraordinary that two people who left basically because they felt press intrusion and yet in the past 12 months we’ve had nothing but drip-feeding the press about things that they’re doing,” he told True Royalty TV’s Royal Beat.
Just wait until they start doing press interviews for their work with Netflix. Arbiter’s going to have a field day.
