The 16-time Grammy winner was in tears as she approached the My Heart Will Go On singer as the two embraced with Dion, 56, holding Adele’s face between her hands.

The pair exchanged words and Adele, 36, waved to audience members who were seated nearby before she asked the crowd to help her continue singing the song. “Can you sing it for me?” Adele requested as she became overcome with emotion, dabbing her tearstained face with a tissue.

Dion stood up to take a bow and put her hand over her heart as Adele told the cheering crowd that the Quebec singer was “one of my favourite people of all time.”

The Power of Love hitmaker was joined at the show by her two of her sons, Nelson and Eddy Angelil, 14, who were seen in social media videos hugging their mother after Adele’s emotional tribute.

After their meeting, Adele thanked Dion for coming to her show in a message shared to her social media pages.

“I have been performing in Celine Dion’s room at the Colosseum for almost 2 years now,” Adele wrote. “It was the only venue I wanted to play in Vegas because it was built for her. I have a picture of her right next to the stage that I touch every night before I walk on and she came to the show this weekend and it was a surprise and it was a MOMENT!!”

Adele continued, “Celine I love you so very very much. Words will never sum up what you mean to me, or what you coming to my show means, let alone how it felt seeing you back in your palace with your beautiful family… Such a full circle moment for me to be there with you. Thank you so much.”

The shared moment came after Adele watched Dion perform at the same venue back in 2018.

In a post shared to her Instagram at the time, Dion said she was “thrilled that Adele came to (her show).”

In her response, Adele referred to Dion as “Queen Celine,” hailing the concert as “an absolute highlight of my life.”

“What a show,” she wrote. “Thank you so much for the attention to your crowd and insane humour. Happy New Year lady x.”

Dion’s attendance at Adele’s show follows her appearance at the City of Hope Spirit of Life Gala last week in Los Angeles, where she presented the Spirit of Life Award to AEG CEO Jay Marciano.

“What a joy it is to come together with everyone in this room tonight to do everything in our power to help spread this great gift,” Dion said (per Variety).

Marciano was being honoured for his philanthropic and humanitarian efforts towards cancer research. Dion’s husband, Rene Angelil, died of cancer on Jan. 14, 2016.

“The City of Hope is so well-named,” Dion said during her presentation speech. “It does so much more than the important research leading to new treatments. It provides care to people in their greatest time of need … it provides the most precious ingredient of all. It provides hope.”

Following her diagnosis with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022, the six-time Grammy winner retreated from the limelight. But Dion has been cautiously making her return to public life over the last year, appearing at several NHL games. This past summer, Dion made the press rounds after releasing a film documenting her struggle with the disease. She also performed at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics in July.

“I’m honoured to have performed tonight for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities!” Dion wrote in an emotional Instagram post after her performance. “Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.”

And earlier this month, Dion surprised football fans when she popped up in an NFL promo ahead of the Sunday night game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys.
