“While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family,” his rep said in a statement to Soap Opera Digest.

The message from the family asked “for privacy and understanding” as they “face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis.”

The statement added that the family is “deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love” from their loved ones.

Rogers’ announcement came the same day he made a surprise return to his role as Robert Scorpio in a General Hospital episode, Digest reported.

The actor, whose latest stint on the hit soap opera ran from 2018-2024, was last seen leaving Port Charles with ex-wife Holly Sutton (played by Emma Samms) as they set out to find a way to pay off their debts in November 2024, according to the outlet.

But on the July 17 episode, Scorpio opened the door to his new home, greeting his daughter Sasha (played by Sofia Mattsson), her newborn baby and Jason Morgan (played by Steve Burton).

“Hello, luv,” he greeted the characters onscreen, according to Soap Opera Digest, to which Sasha responded by introducing him to his granddaughter Daisy.

Rogers first appeared on General Hospital in December 1980 and his popular character remained until 1992 when Scorpio was supposedly killed off.
