But the returning members of RHONY have been quite vocal about this season’s upgrade due to Frankel’s retirement — particularly long-time housewife Ramona Singer who believes fans will agree the show, like its cast, is aging like fine wine.
RHONY's Ramona Singer promises new season won't 'get dark'Back to video

“This season is the first season where things do not get dark. You have the drama without things getting dark. People can relate because nobody has a perfect life. You’ll see me and other housewives exposing themselves in different ways,” Singer, 63, told Sun from the comfort of COVID-19 quarantine in her ocean-front home.
“I think it’s because Bethenny is not on the show. I respect Bethenny deeply. She was very successful on the show and I enjoyed filming with her, but we were always on eggshells with her. Now we can let loose and be ourselves more.”

Fans were introduced to new cast-member McSweeny, the 37-year-old CEO of fashion line Married to the Mob during Thursday night’s premiere. Ramona, who’s taken the new addition under her wing as a Housewife daughter of sorts, hints that the designer’s antics will be worth the watch from season start to finish. “I call Leah the wild horse that needs to be tamed,” Singer said laughing.
“I had the idea this year to invite everyone all under one roof — all six women — in my home in South Hampton. I had never done that in 12 years. It’s the first time we’ve done that. It was absolutely crazy. During those 3-4 days, she became my surrogate daughter. I hold her to a different accountability and a higher standard and you’ll have to see this season how that plays out with our conflicts and resolutions. It’s pretty damn interesting in my opinion,” she said.
Ramona Singer stars on The Real Housewives of New York City.
Although fans of the series can expect their regular dose of petty catfights, Singer also ensures that she and her group of friends have learned a few lessons along the way that have led to some much-needed growth.
“[Filming] was such a different experience than any other year I’ve had and it was my twelfth year on the show. We’ve grown as women in our relationships and we’ve grown relying on each other. We’ll fight like cats and dogs but we’re like family,” she said.
The Real Housewives of New York airs Thursdays on Slice and Fridays on Hayu.
