Elon Musk trashes Canadian Tire shirt-wearing Mike Myers on ‘SNL’
Mike Myers took aim at Elon Musk during last weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, in which the Auston Powers star mocked the Tesla CEO and his role in U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.
From Myers sporting a cheesehead while ridiculing Musk’s failed campaign for a state Supreme Court candidate in Wisconsin to making light of recent attacks against the billionaire’s electric car dealership, the SpaceX CEO was unimpressed, Mark Daniell reported.
After one X user called Myers’ taunts “a new low in comedy,” Musk entered the fray to blast the late-night show, writing, “SNL hasn’t been funny in a long time. They are their own parody.”
Musk’s comments followed his terse five-word review of the skit series last month when Myers debuted his parody of Time magazine’s 2021 Person of the Year during a spoof of a meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“Humour fails when it lies.”
(We laughed.)

Financially troubled Hudson’s Bay to hold once-in-a-lifetime warehouse sale
Get it while it’s hot.
That’s what Hudson’s Bay is hoping bargain hunters are going to try to do after launching its warehouse sale in Toronto.
Shoppers can expect thousands of deals at “heavily reduced” prices, the company promised, after Canada’s oldest retailer filed for creditor protection last month, Denette Wilford reported.
A new document circulated to lawyers involved in the case, which is raising suspicion that a company insider may be exploring a bid for the retailer’s assets or leases.
That comes after the billionaire owner of three B.C. shopping malls has declared her intent to purchase the ailing department store chain, outlining her plan in a series of videos posted on a Chinese social network.
For now, six stores in Ontario will remain open, along with the once-in-a-lifetime warehouse sale.
Happy shopping!

PGA Tour’s Nick Taylor doesn’t find fans’ jokes about Canada funny
Donald Trump’s disrespect and overt economic attacks on Canada have changed the relationship between two formerly very friendly neighbours — and have also seeped into the golf course.
While some Americans have apologized for the President’s actions, Winnipeg native Nick Taylor has been getting “more jokes about the 51st state than anything” — which he isn’t loving, Jon McCarthy reported from Augusta National.
“I wouldn’t say heckling, but just trying to be frat-boy funny,” he said. “I particularly don’t find it that funny.”
Same, Nick. Same.

SIMMONS SAYS: Great One has two records he believes will never be caught
Wayne Gretzky has held tightly and proudly to the multitude of records he established with pride in the NHL and didn’t think he would see the day when his goal-scoring record would be overtaken by Alexander Ovechkin.
But there are two records the Great One believes will never be broken, Steve Simmons reported, one being the all-time point leadership number.

SIMMONS: Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s new deal is completely crazy, but the Blue Jays had to do it
The desperation of a franchise fighting for an identity, fighting for credibility, fighting to maintain a fan base, means the Toronto Blue Jays had no choice but to overpay Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at US$500 million over the next 14 years.
That’s the cost of doing business in today’s baseball world after the Jays misplayed Guerrero’s personal circumstances and pending free agency, Simmons wrote, and Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins should have signed Guerrero years ago — for less money and less term.
But hey, at least now the Jays have a bat and a face for their franchise for the next 14 years.
