On Thursday, Oct. 27,the Be Kind Speaker Series kicks off for the season with an event focussed on children’s empowerment and mental health since Covid — especially girls, social media and cyberbullying.
The special guests for the evening are lawyer and kids’ author Margot Denomme, author of Mommy, am I pretty? and Awesome Inside + Out;Laurie McCann, social media expert from Toronto Police Services, and therapists Rebecca Loucks and Laura Devlin from the Beaches Therapy Group.
Margot Denomme has been a criminal lawyer in Toronto for more than 20 years and has witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of poor choices made by children with low self-esteem and damaged self-confidence.
As the mother of two daughters, she was struck by the distorted images of beauty being sold to children via the media and advertising — and she writes kids’ books with the clear message that beauty comes from within and from the heart.
