A recent survey from the Pew Research Center found that nearly one-third of American adults are more accepting of tattoos, whether they have a tattoo themselves or can simply appreciate the art on another person’s body.
The results show that those most likely to get inked are women (38% compared to 27% of men), black people (39% compared with 35% Latino, 32% white and 14% Asian), and younger adults.
The survey found 46% of people between the ages of 30 and 49 and 41% of those under 30 sport at least one piece of body art, while the number drops to 25% in the 50-to-64 age range, and 13% for those over 65.
Those with some college education or less are more likely to have a tattoo than those with university degrees.
Religion also plays a factor, with 41% of those unaffiliated with a religion having at least one tattoo, compared with 29% of those affiliated with a religion.
