For current and prospective cottagers, the show connects attendees with more than 200 brands and experts offering services, education, and free advice on everything from cottage building, buying and selling, to cold weather safety such as hyperthermia, and transforming your cottage into a four-season escape.

Reflecting on the 20 years of cottage living, Cottage Life editor Michelle Kelly says “back in the day cottaging was much more of a rustic endeavour but given the cost, people want to spend more time there.”

The cottage season has extended from traditional summer months to year-round, many are being winterized and are fancier, “people want that dishwasher, a nice couch and those nice decor touches,” she says.

Also factoring into the increased use is a blurring of cottage and home lifestyles, including working from a cottage-based home office.

Educational seminars are being led by Cottage Life magazine’s editorial team alongside TV personalities Michael Holmes Jr., Sherry Holmes.
Kelly herself will be hosting a “Hall of Fame Q&A,” noting two of the key questions that keep coming up every year are: ‘How to deal with mould and odour issues,’ and ‘Neighbour relations.’

Also under the same roof, the Seasons Christmas Show is packed with “decorators, chefs and stylists, who are brimming with resourceful ideas and time-saving hacks for stress-free holiday entertaining and gift ideas.”

Attendees can find stocking stuffers or a unique handmade gift from the Makeful Market; or get tips from experts including Sarah Gunn and Lynn Spence, as well as Chefs Jo Lusted and Thomas Armstrong, on everything from gift wrapping ideas, to holiday tablescapes, to learning how to compose a gorgeous grazing board and entertaining hacks.

Back by popular demand, the hourly hands-on Make & Take Workshops hosted by local creative artists will help visitors brush on their DIY skills for the holidays and leave with one-of-a-kind gifts.

Guests will learn to make festive cookie wreaths, craft succulent glass ornament terrariums, or build a 3D Christmas countdown sign. (Workshops must be reserved in advance and not included with show admission).
