Crime may be up everywhere in the GTA especially when it comes to home invasions and car thefts but fortunately for tenants of 2Fifteen, a luxury rental building at the corner of Avenue Rd. and Lonsdale Rd. in Forest Hill, that is something they do not need to worry about.

To call the structure built by DBS Developments as secure as Fort Knox is not an understatement. The two-person 24/7 concierge teams are equipped with full camera access of the building and outdoor area. In addition, the fact every AI camera is equipped with motion detection features means that security can see any questionable movement not after the fact, but in real time.

2Fifteen also features a Destination Dispatch elevator, which according to a DBS fact sheets means that tenants who are paying rents ranging from $3,000 to as high as $10,000 a month, can only access their floor or those floors with amenities via a secure passkey.

Asked if additional security measures have been implemented since residents began moving in 18 months ago due to rising incidents of crime, Bryan Levy, the CEO of DBS said the answer to that is, no.

For this type of building, which offers a hotel-like experience complete with curated services, he says, resident expects a high level of security, and expect to be safe.

“We’ve created a system with high resolution cameras, which are capable of sensing movements and patterns,” says Levy. “We’ve strategically placed them, and created a bubble around the site. If you look at the building on a parcel of land, we have been able to identify all of the entry points.

“The parking ramp would be an access point to the garage, for example, those. Exit stairwells that come out of the garage and onto the ground level are locked down and only for exiting the building and in case of emergency or fire.”

Other security measures include all unit doors having digital locks and are keyless. The digital locks, according to the fact sheet, record the “entry and exit of each person, which means residents can access the entry log to backtrack who entered the apartment and when.”

Anyone with thoughts of stealing an assorted number of luxury vehicles owned by tenants from 2Fifteen, may want to consider heading off to another location for it is virtually airtight from a security perspective.

“We have a residential- specific garage door that opens up only to residents,” says Levy. “If you were to come down the parking ramp, you would have no access to the residential section of the garage without a special access card. All the residents’ cars would have this and that opens the residential door on a timer and a sensor, so it is impossible to tailgate somebody in. We haven’t had any issues in the residential garage to date.”

According to Levy, one of the benefits of living in a “luxury building like ours is that (tenants) can have peace of mind and can sleep at night knowing they are safe. Unless you live on that floor, you cannot get to that floor.”

Speaking of the rising crime rate across the city, he says “it is tremendously unfortunate that we have got to the point where cars are being taken at the rate they are, and home invasions are increasing. This building provides a level of safety and comfort of not having to worry about those issues.”
