The Toronto Police hate crimes unit arrested Basel al-Sukhon, charging him with uttering threats and indecent communications in connection with a number of threatening social media posts that went viral over the weekend.

Police alleged a profanity-laced rant allegedly posted by an Instagram account named “basukhon” contended, in part, that all “Zionists belong in an unmarked grave.”

“2 israeli ambassadors who support mass starvation of children and genocide is a start but it ain’t f—ing enough,” said the post, referring to last week’s murder of two young Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C.

The post also described violence as a “method by which humans have achieved political goals since the dawn of history,” and said the time has come when “nazis, zionists, fascists, white supremacists and christian fundamentalists all fundamentally fear for their lives every time they open their doors.”

None of the allegations against al-Sukhon have been tested in court.

The two Israeli staffers who were gunned down in Washington have been identified as Yaron Lischinsky, 30, and Saram Milgrim, 26.

The alleged gunman, Elias Rodriguez, was seen on video chanting “Free, free Palestine” as he was taken into custody, and later told police he’d committed the murders in solidarity with Gaza.

Joining in the praise for Rodriquez was Green Party of Canada member and failed federal election candidate Jayden Baldonado, who on social media described the murders of Lischinsky and Milgrim as “100% justified,” and said the days of peaceful protest have “failed.”
