CRIME SCENE: 2 charged after loaded weapon, stolen vehicle recovered in Vaughan

An 18-year-old and a 17-year-old from Toronto have been charged after a loaded weapon was seized and a stolen vehicle recovered in Vaughan.

York Regional Police said officers responded last Friday around 9:45 p.m. to a suspicious vehicle in a plaza in the Hwy. 7-Keele St. area.

Officers arrived on scene and identified the vehicle as being reported stolen in Toronto three days early on Aug. 12.

Cops said the suspect vehicle intentionally struck a police cruiser before attempting to flee the scene.

Police said the two occupants abandoned the stolen vehicle and suspects were taken into custody a short distance away while trying to get a rideshare.

Police allegedly recovered a loaded firearm and a key for the stolen vehicle.

Charged were Sharah Syed, 18, and a 17-year-old male from Toronto who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

At the time of the alleged offence, Syed was on an undertaking for an unrelated offence.

MAN CHARGED IN OSHAWA STABBING, SECOND SUSPECT SOUGHT

A 19-year-old without a fixed address is facing several charges and a second suspect is sought following a stabbing in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police said officers responded on Aug. 11 around 6:35 p.m. to a call for three males fighting in the Mary St. N.-William St. E. area.

Cops said the victim was playing basketball when he was approached by two males. An argument started before the victim and suspects went to the road where a physical altercation broke out.

Police said the victim was stabbed during the fight. The suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.

Officers applied a tourniquet to the victim who was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Dajon Colley was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and three counts of breach probation.

RICHMOND HILL TEEN CHARGED IN TORONTO FAIL-TO-REMAIN

A 17-year-old boy from Richmond Hill has been charged after a vehicle hit a pedestrian and took off, according to Toronto Police.

Officers responded around midnight on May 19  after a vehicle allegedly hit a 34-year-old man who was crossing Queen St., near Jones Ave. The driver fled before police arrived, said police.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Monday, police said the youth was charged with two counts of dangerous operation cause bodily harm and leaving an accident scene causing bodily harm.

INFO SOUGHT AFTER MOTORCYLIST CRITICALLY INJURED IN CRASH WITH FIRE TRUCK

A 66-year-old motorcyclist suffered critical injuries after colliding with a fire truck Monday morning, according to police.

Officers responded at 6:45 a.m. after the motorcycle collided with the fire truck on Sheppard Ave., near Jane St., said Toronto Police.

The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital where his injuries were determined to be life-threatening.
