CRIME SCENE: 1 victim dead, another wounded after North York stabbing

One man was killed and another suffered injuries in a double stabbing Sunday afternoon in North York.

Toronto Police said they responded to a call at about noon in the Wilson Ave.-Hwy. 400 area, where one man was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and the other was hospitalized for treatment.
Acting Insp. Todd Jocko told reporters at the scene, via CP24, that the first victim died at a hospital despite life-saving measures by first responders.
He said both victims are men in their 50s, while a man in his 70s was arrested at the scene, just east of Hwy. 400, at Wilson Ave. and Beverly Hills Dr.
There was no information yet on charges or a motive.
“There is no outstanding threat to the public,” Jocko said, adding there was going to be an increased police presence in the area.

MOTORCYCLIST DEAD AFTER HITTING LIGHT POST

A 28-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle hit a light post early Sunday in North York.

Toronto Police said officers responded to a crash in the Suntract-Gordon Mackay Rds. area Sunday at 12:15 a.m. after the driver of a Suzuki motorcycle travelling southbound on Suntract lost control and struck a light post.

The driver suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they believe there were witnesses to the crash and asked them to contract investigators at 416-808-1900.

2 DEAD AFTER CRASH ON HAMILTON ACCESS ROAD

Hamilton Police are investigating a fatal overnight crash that killed two people on a mountain access road.

Police said they responded to a single-vehicle collision Sunday at about 3 a.m. on the central Claremont Access, a busy thoroughfare connecting Hamilton Mountain to the lower city, after a Chevrolet travelling southbound left the road and struck a stone wall.

The driver and a passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
