CRIME SCENE: 4 sought in alleged 'targeted' kidnapping attempt of woman at Vaughan Mills

No fewer than four suspects are sought after allegedly trying to kidnap a woman at Vaughan Mills shopping centre on Friday afternoon.
York Regional Police attended the Vaughan mall shortly after noon after receiving calls about the incident.
The woman was able to flee from her assailants, police said.
She suffered minor physical injuries.
“This was a targeted incident and there is no threat to public safety,” police said in a post on social-media site X.
Investigators are looking for “at least” four suspects who were dressed in black.
No further descriptions were immediately available.
Cops said the suspect vehicle — a blue Honda Civic — had been stolen from Toronto. The vehicle has an Ontario licence plate AXJN850.

MAN SOUGHT FOR SUSPECTED HATE-MOTIVATED THREATS
A middle-aged man suspected of making alleged hate-motivated threats on a TTC subway train in the west end is sought.
Toronto Police said in a news release issued on Friday that the alleged victim boarded a TTC train at High Park Station on Aug. 13 at about 1 p.m.
Cops said the accused was onboard the train with a white Husky-type dog and immediately began yelling at the victim after they boarded the train.
Police alleged that the suspect then made several anti-Semitic threats and “threats of bodily harm” toward the victim.
The accused is described as about 35 years old, 6-foot-2 and 181 pounds. He has a shaved head, medium build, short beard and moustache. He was wearing sunglasses on his head, a light-purple dress shirt, purple tie, dark dress vest, dark dress pants and black dress shoes.
Police have released images.

WOMAN SUSPECTED OF FRAUD IN WESTON
Police investigators are looking to identify a female suspected of fraud after a grandparent was the victim of a scam in Weston.
Toronto Police say, on May 28 at approximately 3 p.m., an elderly victim was contacted on the phone by someone pretending to be their grandson, advising they had been arrested.
It is reported that the phone was passed to a person posing as a police officer and the victim was advised they needed a bank card to show the judge.
A woman went to the victim’s address in the Weston Rd. and King St. area, near Lawrence Ave. W., and obtained the bank card where she made withdrawals out of the victim’s bank account.
Investigators released an image of the suspect. She is approximately 30 years old and was wearing a white shirt, a denim jacket with knit sleeves and a hood, and a silver cross necklace.
Police advise that officers will never go to your home in full or partial uniform to collect cash or banking information. In addition, law enforcement officials will never contact family members and request money for bail or send someone to their home to pick up money.

MAN, 67, ACCUSED OF SEX ASSAULT IN BURLINGTON
A 67-year-old man is accused of sexual assault following an incident at a train station in Burlington.
Halton Regional Police say, on Thursday at approximately 9:30 p.m., a girl was seated in the waiting area of the Appleby GO Station when she was approached by an unknown man who put his hands on her multiple times.
Cops say the girl was able to get away from the suspect and police were contacted.
Police say, later that evening, officers arrested the suspect at the Burlington GO Station on Fairview St.
Donald Rogers of no fixed address has been charged with sexual assault.

BOY, 16, FACING DRUG CHARGES IN HAMILTON
A 16-year-old boy is facing charges after being accused of dealing drugs near a men’s shelter in downtown Hamilton.
According to Hamilton Police, undercover officers were in the area of York Blvd. and Bay St. on Wednesday when they saw two males conducting drug transactions that appeared to target shelter residents.
Police say the officers approached the males, who then fled the area. After a brief pursuit, two youth were arrested.
Cops allege the youth were in possession of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine and hydromorphone pills with a street value of over $8,500.
Police say one boy was released when it was determined he was acting as the lookout.
The other boy is facing three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds obtained by crime not exceeding $5,000, and failing to comply with a disposition.
