CRIME SCENE: Boozing high-speed driver told OPP he was 'late for work'

A 25-year-old Toronto man is facing a slew of drinking and driving charges after cops say he was caught travelling at an eye-popping 200 km/h on Hwy. 407 on Sunday around 11 a.m.
The OPP released photos of one nearly empty bottle and one full bottle of Crown Royal as well as two mini Crystal Head vodkas in the unidentified man’s seat. Cops said he was three times over the legal limit.
The driver, who was stopped at Neyagawa Blvd., told officers: “I’m running late for work.”
OPP said he is charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, stunt driving, novice driver with alcohol above zero, and alcohol readily available. He received a 90-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impound.
FRAUDSTER SOUGHT IN MARKHAM SCAM
York Regional Police are asking for the public’s help in a Markham fraud probe.
According to cops, the investigation began March 6 when packages were delivered to a victim’s residence, in the area of Riverwalk Dr. and Oakborough Dr. The packages were addressed to them with slightly altered personal information.

As the package arrived, a male suspect rang the victim’s doorbell and told the victim that his sister’s package was delivered there accidentally. The suspect fled when told police would be called.
When the victim checked their credit card statements, they noticed transactions for high-end clothing items they had not ordered. The next day there was a similar incident. The suspect fled in a black SUV.
Then on March 31, a similar incident occurred. CCTV captured the same suspect retrieving packages. He was driving a white Mercedes-Benz. A dark grey Range Rover was driving in tandem with the Mercedes, police said Monday.
The suspect is described as Asian, 20 to 25 years old, about 5-foot-8 with a medium build, and wearing glasses, a dark bomber jacket, and dark pants.

HAMILTON STABBING INJURES TEEN
Hamilton Police detectives are investigating a stabbing that sent a teen to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Cops say the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the area of Cannon and MacNab streets on Saturday.
Initially, the 17-year-old victim was taken to hospital in critical condition, but his status has improved. There is no description of the suspect or suspects.

COPS HUNT SHOOTER OF AJAX TEEN
A 16-year-old Ajax boy is lucky to be alive after he was shot at a St. Catharines nightclub.
Cops say that around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, officers heard the sound of gunshots. When they arrived on the scene, a multitude of individuals were seen fleeing from Club 88. Officers found the teen inside, and he was transported out of the region for treatment. His injuries are non-life-threatening.
Detectives determined that the shooting unfolded near the bathroom area. What triggered the gunplay isn’t clear.
The shooter is described as a male wearing a black Nike sweater and black jogging pants.

GUELPH MAN CHARGED IN WILD CHASE
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a 27-year-old Guelph man after he allegedly stole a BMW from a Cambridge driveway.
After being notified, police located the vehicle heading west on Hwy. 401 at a high rate of speed. Due to safety concerns, police did not initiate a pursuit.
Officers later found the stolen BMW and stopped the car before the driver could make a getaway. The suspect was found lying in a ditch and was arrested.
The man, whose name was not released, is charged with motor vehicle theft, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft under $5,000, dangerous operation, operation of a conveyance while prohibited, and flight from a police officer.
