CRIME SCENE: Shots fired in North York

Toronto Police are investigating the sounds of gunshots in North York early Monday morning.

At 1:56 a.m., police were called to the area of Trethewey Dr. and Black Creek Dr. and located a vehicle struck by gunfire.

The suspects fled the area in a vehicle and there were no reported injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

Hamilton Police say they have a large presence in the downtown on Monday morning as they investigate a barricaded person in a building.

Police are asking people to avoid the area of Barton St. and East Ave.

SUSPECT SOUGHT AFTER ASSAULT NEAR HIGH PARK

Police are seeking help from the public after an assault near High Park earlier this year.

Toronto Police said the victim was walking in the Bloor St. W.-Glendonwynne Rd. area on Sept. 14 at about 10:45 p.m., when they were approached by the suspect and assaulted.

The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is a Black female between 14 and 17 years old with a heavy build and long black hair. She was last seen wearing a white and navy blue jersey with the No. 68 on the sleeves, a black shirt and black shoes.

CHARGES LAID IN 2023 ARMED ROBBERY PROBE

A 44-year-old man has been charged more than a year after a Scarborough store was targeted in an armed robbery.

Toronto Police said they responded to a call for a robbery on March 17, 2023, at about 10:45 p.m. in the St. Clair Ave. E.-Birchmount Rd. area, where a man wearing a mask allegedly entered a store, produced a weapon and demanded cash.

Police said he fled from the scene with a “quantity of cash.”

Ashwin Shawn Misir, of no fixed address, was arrested on Thursday and charged with robbery with an offensive weapon and disguise with intent.
