CRIME SCENE: Toronto woman charged with murder in stabbing of man

A 44-year-old Toronto woman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a Feb. 21 fatal stabbing of a man.

Toronto Police responded to a call for a stabbing at a residence in the Dovercourt Rod.-Geary Ave. area at 2:38 a.m.

Cops said that when they arrived at the home, they found a man suffering from a stab wound and began life-saving measures.

Police said the victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and on Feb. 24 he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Paulo Mota, 38, of Toronto. His death marks Toronto’s fourth homicide of 2025.

On Sunday, Maria Rivero was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

UTTERING THREATS CHARGES FOR T.O. MAN

A 34-year-old Toronto man has been charged with uttering threats in connect with an alleged June 2 incident in the York Mills Rd.- Parkwoods Village Dr. area.

Police alleged that the accused approached the victim, made threats to assault them and also made derogatory slurs.

Cops said the victim left the area and later reported the incident.

Mohamed Nassar was charged with utter threats.

MAN SOUGHT IN YORK REGION INDECENT ACT

York Regional Police are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect who allegedly committed an indecent act in Newmarket.

Last Friday around 6:45 p.m., two youths were playing in the forested area of Ken Sturgeon Park, in the area of Lockwood Circle and Damascus Court when they were allegedly confronted by a male suspect with his pants down committing an indecent act.

Cops said the youths left the area and reported the incident.

The suspect is described as a west Asian male, 25 to 30 years-old, with a slim build and dark hair. He was seen wearing a white t-shirt and grey shorts.

TORONTO MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT

A 34-year-old Toronto man wanted in an assault investigation has been arrested and charge.

Toronto Police said officers responded on May 26 to a call for an assault in the Cosburn and Pape Aves. area where it’s alleged the man and the victim were involved in an fight when the accused assaulted and choked the victim. Police alleged that the accused also harassed the victim by repeatedly contacting and attending the victim’s home.

Cops said on May 31, Admir Keranovic was charged with assault, assault/choking and two counts of harassment by repeated communication with person.
