GTA man, woman charged as part of suspected carjacking ring

A Pickering man and a Brampton woman face charges after police seized drugs while executing a search warrant as part of an armed carjacking investigation.
York Regional Police said officers responded on Nov. 5 at about 2:40 a.m. to a carjacking in the Old Kennedy Rd.-Denison St. area in Markham.
Police alleged that three suspects approached the victim and pointed a firearm at him before stealing his 2021 Mercedes-Benz G-wagon, fleeing in tandem with a white BMW sports utility vehicle being operated by a fourth suspect.
On Nov. 6, the stolen G-class vehicle was found on a residential street in Mississauga and recovered by police.
On Dec. 19, officers executed a warrant in Brampton, seizing a quantity of crack cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine. They also recovered a Porsche that had been reported stolen during a home invasion in Toronto.
Two suspects were arrested.


Suvestan Ganeshamoorthy, 34, of Pickering, and Arunsheeyaah Arulanantham, 29, of Brampton, were each charged with possession and two counts of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The investigation is ongoing and investigators are seeking additional suspects.
