Toronto Police have laid criminal harassment and weapons charges against a Toronto man at the centre of a hate-motivated crime.
On April 15, police received a call from a motorist near Mount Pleasant Rd. and Eglinton Ave. E., who said an unknown man drove up alongside and pointed a firearm.
That same man, police said, was recognized from previous incidents of vandalism — including an instance where an unspecified neo-nazi symbol was spray-painted.
An investigation by the TPS hate crimes unit identified the accused, and during a subsequent search warrant investigators seized several items that included firearms and ammunition.
Tareq Farsakh Muro, 25, of Toronto, faces a slew of charges including criminal harassment, assault with a weapon, unauthorized possess of a motor vehicle and numerous weapons offences.
Muro appeared in court Wednesday morning.
Anybody with information is asked to call Toronto Police at 416-808-3500, or Crime Stoppers.
