HELP SOUGHT IN DANGEROUS DRIVING CASE
Peel Regional Police are seeking the public’s help in a dangerous driving investigation.
Cops say on Tuesday, around 3:20 p.m., police attempted to stop an off-road motorcycle-style bike that was driving erratically – performing wheelies and other dangerous manoeuvres – on the roadway near Eglington Ave. and Erin Mills Parkway.
Police say while trying to avoid them, the motorcycle even made contact with a fully marked police cruiser.
Cops say a uniformed officer attempting to arrest the driver was struck and injured by the vehicle as it fled at a high rate of speed, accelerating recklessly through the crowded roadway.
Police say the officer went to a local hospital to treat a serious, but non-life-threatening injury.
Investigators are requesting the public’s help in identifying the rider of the motorcycle, who is described as a young male between the ages of 15 and 20, wearing a black helmet, and wearing a black sweater and pants.
The motorcycle is believed to be electric-powered and dark coloured.
Anyone with information on this incident, or has dashcam footage in the area of Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Ave. at the time that this occurred is asked to contact investigators from the Major Collision Bureau at 905-453-3311 Ext. 3707.
