Man charge after laser allegedly pointed at cop chopper

A man has been accused of repeatedly pointing a laser at a police helicopter that was in flight over Oshawa, according to Durham Regional Police.
Officers were called shortly after 11 p.m. Friday to the Deer Valley Dr.-Snowbird St. after the Durham force’s Air1 chopper was repeatedly struck by a green laser, “causing a serious safety risk by endangering the lives of those onboard,” police said.

The laser was allegedly tracked to three males who were walking on a roadway, according to police.
Arsh Sharma, 27, of Oshawa, is charged with two counts of mischief endangering life, being intoxicated in public, and failing to appear.
