Pickering man, 25, charged with murder after mom dies in hospital

Durham Regional Police have charged a 25-year-old man with second-degree murder in the early Sunday morning slaying of his 64-year-old mother in Pickering.

Police were called at 5:10 a.m. for reports of a collision on Weyburn Square and located the woman suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Sheila Hercules was taken to a trauma centre and later pronounced dead.
Police said her injuries were allegedly caused by an assault and not a collision.
Aidan Hercules, 25, of Pickering has been charged with second-degree murder.
Police said there were no other suspects or concerns about the public’s safety.
