Quebec man charged in attempted Lexus theft in Stouffville

York Regional Police have charged a Quebec man and are looking for more suspects after they foiled an attempted auto theft in Stouffville.
On Friday, at 2:10 a.m., police were called to the area of Ina Lane and Mostar St. for reports of a ongoing vehicle theft.
Police said the victim told officers his Lexus GX460 was being stolen.
The suspect fled as police arrived, but was caught and arrested.
The suspect was in possession of a key fob programmer device.
Police also saw the suspect vehicle, a grey Mercedes sedan, fleeing the area.
Although the theft was unsuccessful, the vehicle was damaged.
Raheem Mateenjam, 27, of Chateauguay, Que., is charged with theft of motor vehicle, possession of automobile master key, possession of break-in instruments, and disguise with Intent.
The investigation is ongoing.
