Suspect arrested in violent home invasions

Peel Regional Police have charged a man allegedly involved in violent armed home invasions at homes in Brampton and Mississauga.

Police said on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 12:30 a.m., at least three suspects forced their way into a home near Glen Erin Dr. and Burnhamthorpe Rd., in Mississauga.

The victim, who was home at the time of the invasion, tried to intervene but was shot by one of the suspects.

The victim was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects fled the residence in a vehicle stolen in Toronto.

Following the home invasion, police said the suspect with the gun attempted another home invasion in Toronto, where he was arrested.

Police have connected the suspect to two other home invasions on Oct. 12 and Oct. 14 in Brampton and Mississauga.

In those cases, several suspects forced entry into homes and demanded money, jewelry, electronics, and vehicle keys.

One victim suffered minor injuries.

Burhan Abdulkadir, a 28-year-old man of no fixed address, is charged with attempted murder, three counts of robbery, three counts of wearing a disguise, discharge firearm with intent, aggravated assault,, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, being the occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, and possession of property obtained by crime.

This investigation is ongoing.
