Toronto Police responded on Saturday at about 4:50 p.m. for an assault call in the St. Germain Ave.-Avenue Rd. area.

Cops say a parking enforcement officer tried to issue a parking ticket to a man after he refused to move his vehicle in a live lane of traffic.

According to police, the man drove away at that point but returned shortly thereafter on foot to confront the officer, allegedly swiping at them and striking their hand-held ticket machine. The officer was swiped at again, this time being struck on the hat.

The man fled the scene.

Daniel Walderman, 38, has been arrested and charged with assault.
