An 84-year-old woman is fighting for her life at a local trauma centre after a crash led to a “terrible assault” on a Hwy. 401 off-ramp in Ajax.
Highway Safety Division Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a social media post that Whitby OPP “need your help” in tracking down an unknown suspect wanted after a Thursday morning crash on the Salem Rd. off-ramp from the eastbound 401.
Schmidt said the assault happened between 10:35 a.m. and 11 a.m. after a collision between two vehicles.
Schmidt said they are looking for a man between 20 and 35 years old who has long black hair and tattoos on his arms and chest. He was possibly driving a white or light beige sedan that may be damaged.
Anyone with information or who was in the area before 11 a.m. and “saw anything” can contact Whitby OPP at 905-668-3388 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
