11 charged after pro-Palestinian protest in downtown Toronto

Eleven people were arrested and charged during a pro-Palestinian protest in downtown Toronto over the weekend.

They say some demonstrators “repeatedly” ignored police directions, refused to clear intersections and allegedly assaulted officers.

One officer sustained minor injuries, and the windshield of a police vehicle was cracked after it was struck by an object.

The Toronto chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement accused police of “brutal violence” against the protesters in a statement on social media.

Police say they arrested 11 people and charged them with several offences, including obstructing a peace officer and assaulting a peace officer.

One of accused was arrested on an outstanding warrant related to a different demonstration earlier this year.

Leslie Solomonian, 47, of Toronto, was charged with:

Jamiel Nasser, 23, of Windsor, was charged with:

They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on Friday. September 12, 2025, at 11 a.m., in room 203.
