23 Toronto restaurants among OpenTable's top 100 for outdoor dining

It’s patio season, so what better way to enjoy the weather than by dining at one of the best outdoor places to eat in the city?

OpenTable, the online restaurant-reservation platform, released its annual list of Canada’s Top 100 Restaurants for Outdoor Dining and Ontario establishments take up more than half the spots.

There were 56 restaurants overall in Ontario, 23 of which are in Toronto – a significant increase over last year’s 14 eateries in the city.

Making the cut for Toronto are:

OpenTable also notes that of the aforementioned restaurants, Cluny, El Catrin, La Vecchia, Parallel and Simona are dog-friendly, though that only applies to well-behaved canines and is subject to change at the discretion of the establishment.

“We are seeing a demand for pet-friendly patios in real time, as dining is growing 11% higher year-over-year at pet-friendly restaurants than those that don’t allow pets,” Matt Davis, senior country director at OpenTable Canada, said in a statement.

The data shows that outdoor dining is up 21% compared to last year, with 32% willing to brave less-than-ideal conditions to eat outside rather than move indoors.

Priorities for outdoor diners are views of the water at 73%, while mountainous landscapes followed with 63%.
