Between Nov. 26, 2023 and Aug. 23, 2024, Toronto Police and Durham Regional Police said officers responded to 27 calls for nighttime break-and-enters into retail establishments and set up Project Nightcrawler to investigate.
It’s alleged that a group of masked and armed suspects broke into cannabis, electronics and cellphone stores, recklessly discharged a firearm while they fled a scene, stole $50,000 worth of products and fled the area in an awaiting vehicle.
On Aug. 29, search warrants were executed in relation to the investigation and it’s further alleged that officers recovered items related to the investigation including two firearms.
