“My phone rang and it was an unknown number, but I’m glad I answered it,” he said, explaining it was someone from OLG calling about a recent ticket purchase.

But Mei admitted he was wary and was trying to figure out if the call was a scam.

He noted that she didn’t ask for any banking information and instead simply asked him to check his email to see if he had received anything from OLG.

When nothing turned up, the OLG agent asked him to check his app.

“When I logged in and saw the ‘60 million’ number, I couldn’t believe it. I was just staring it in shock,” Mei recalled.

“My hands, my feet, all went numb,” he continued. “That’s how I found out because I definitely missed the email notification.”

“I said, ‘Now you guys never have to worry about money anymore. You can just retire now and you can enjoy the rest of your life,’” he said emotionally.

He then told his friends whose response he described was “amazing.”

“They were obviously sharing my joy in a more visible way, jumping for joy,” Mei said with a smile. “That was a very cool moment.”

As for his plans, Mei has a few things he wants to conquer.

“I would just love to keep learning, further my education,” he said.

“I definitely want to travel around the world, explore different places: Antarctica, Finland, Iceland, I would love to see the Aurora borealis, just everything that’s new to me.”

Mei admitted that the odds can be stacked against anyone playing the lottery.

“I just never thought I could win.”

So, moral of the story, people — check your spam or junk folder and don’t avoid every “unknown number” calling your phone. You never know if it will be OLG on the other end.
