Peel Regional Police said that between Jan. 30 and Feb. 27, an employee of a Mississauga auto dealership allegedly used his position as a sales associate to facilitate the fraudulent transactions of 10 vehicles worth about $373,738.
Police believe he allegedly co-ordinated the fraudulent transactions, enabling other involved parties to obtain cars and SUVs, Peel police said in a news release.
“The involved 10 vehicles were (allegedly) unlawfully purchased with the intent to have them shipped out of the country,” police said. “All the vehicles were safely recovered in Ontario.”
Following an investigation, police charged Ankur Bhatiani, 42, of Oakville, with fraud over $5,000, use of forged documents and possession of property obtained by crime.
