“When officers arrived they located a male youth with stab wounds to his torso and to his legs,” Toronto Police Duty Insp. Lori Kranenburg told reporters at the scene.
“He was taken to hospital by ambulance. He has non-life threatening injuries.”
Kranenburg described the male suspect as in their 20s, of unknown race, with a medium build, wearing a blue mask and black jacket with the hood up.
She didn’t know if the suspect and the victim knew each other and added that video surveillance from the bus will be downloaded and reviewed as part of the investigation.
“If anyone else was present on the bus and witnessed this incident, if you could please contact police at 22 Division at 416-808-2200,” she said.
Kranenburg said the suspect was last seen running east on Bloor St.

Our thoughts are with the victim in this attack. As always, we'll give police our full support as they investigate, including video and witness statements. The TTC has no further information at this time. https://t.co/fNpDU6buPo
“Our thoughts are with the victim in this attack,” the TTC said in a tweet. “As always, we’ll give police our full support as they investigate, including video and witness statements. The TTC has no further information at this time.”
It’s the latest in a series of unsettling attacks to happen on public transit over the past week and beyond.
Earlier Wednesday, one person was taken in custody after two TTC employees were chased by a person wielding a syringe at a downtown subway station.
Four 13-year-old boys were arrested earlier this week after two TTC employees were assaulted during what was described as a swarming incident on a bus Monday afternoon in the Kennedy-Merrian Rds. area.
On Tuesday afternoon, a woman in her 20s stabbed around 2 p.m. on a streetcar at Spadina Ave., just south of Bloor St.
A BB gun was fired at a TTC bus operator near Markham Rd. and Progress Ave. in an incident Toronto Mayor John Tory described as “shameful.”
“This can’t continue,” Marvin Alfred, president of ATU Local 113, told the Toronto Sun in an interview on Tuesday. “This needs to be addressed immediately.”
