Boy, 6, dead after being struck by school bus in Kleinburg
Incident happened about half-hour north of Toronto

A six-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a school bus in Kleinburg, about 30 minutes north of Toronto, at about 7:55 a.m. on Wednesday.
Matteo Caputi suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, where the school bus driver remained.
“Obviously, something like this is absolutely horrible,” York Regional Police Const. James Dickson told reporters at the scene.
“I haven’t interacted with the family, but I can’t imagine what they’re going through. We are working hard with our partners to continue the investigation. We have victim services and peer support that are available for officers, parents, teachers, children that may be affected by this,” Dickson said.
The roads were closed due to the investigation in the area of Pierre Berton Blvd. and Kleinburg Summit Way.
Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca’s posted his condolences following the tragedy on his X account.
“The City of Vaughan is in mourning following the tragic death of a young boy who was struck by a vehicle in Kleinburg,” he wrote.
“There are no words that can adequately express our sympathy & condolences to the family, friends & classmates of this child as they grieve this unthinkable loss. I also extend my gratitude to @YRP, @VaughanFire and @YorkParamedics for their efforts to save the boy.”
Investigators with the York Regional Police major collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses who have not yet spoken with police and anyone who may have dashcam footage or video surveillance of the area around the time of the collision to come forward.
