Gunfire erupted at an Oshawa townhouse complex early Wednesday sending bullets piercing through walls and into homes.
Durham Regional Police say officers responded to a call for the sound of gunshots near Taunton Rd. E. and Mary St. N. – west of Ritson Rd. N. – just after 2 a.m.
“Officers arrived on scene and located a number of shell casings in the area,” Const. Emily Mitchell said in a statement released Wednesday, adding no physical injuries had so far been reported.
“A large canvass was conducted and multiple residences were located that had been shot,” she explained. “Residents were home at the time of the shooting and the bullets entered their homes, severely compromising their safety.”
“Of note, a bullet was located in a child’s bedroom beneath their bed,” Mitchell pointed out, adding the child was fortunately not home at the time of the shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing.
